Peterborough RUFC

41 - 31

(HT 0-0)

Broadstreet RFC

Peterborough RUFC welcomed Broadstreet RFC to Fortress Fengate looking to put the horror show that was Daventry behind them. Broadstreet were sitting in 4th place and were on a good run of results so a much improved performance would be required from the home side to get them a vital win. A debut was handed to Max Arnold on the bench, Sam Cowell who was returning after a few seasons away and Dave Harding-Prior who started in the number seven shirt and would go onto claim the Man of the Match award.

Peterborough had the better of the early exchanges and scored first with a converted try to Daniel Nunn. In what became the theme for the afternoon Broadstreet hit back straight away. Further scores from Murphy Hill and Captain Rob Jacobs for Borough were matched by two more tries to the visitors. The difference between the two sides at halftime would be the boot of Byron Van Uden who's two conversions and penalty goal gave Borough a 22-17 lead.

The question from the Borough coaches at half time was could Borough start the second half as they had the first keep the pressure on Broadstreet. With the forwards dominating at scrum time an at times a determined defence Borough closed the game out. A brace of tries for scrum half Pat Webb and a try to winger Mooki Tshepo Olebile gave Borough a deserved win. Broadstreet did mange to score two late tries but Borough came away with a 41-31 victory which sees them sitting in fifth place going into a rest week before an away trip to new boys Old Coventrians. Boroughs away form has been a real issue this season and will be something the coaching staff will need to address
