Boro Ladies march to Twickenham in the cup continues, and where a Boro doppleganger looks a bit Mel-ish !!!
Without a preseason run out, the Boro Ladies welcomed Mellish to Fortress Fengate in round one of the RFU women's junior cup.  With a large squad available to him, Coach Hugh had a lot of options, and the starting XV showed plenty of intent. Great hands and running lines saw them take an early lead, with a try from Poppy, supporting a great run from skipper Nat. This appeared to wake Mellish up, and they used their powerful pack to good effect, and scored the next try to level the match. Boro knew that they were in a match, and (returnee) Ellie scored next, following an interception. Boro continued to press and scored again with Lucy getting the try. Half time saw Boro lead 15-5, and Coach Hugh was able to rotate his team.
Boro continued in the second half as they finished the first, looking to offload and keep the ball alive, but a little rustiness saw the odd knock-on. However, Eve was next to cross the try line, and get the conversion. Mellish kicked a penalty (!) to reduce their arrears, but Boro kept pressing, with Anna the next to score. Mellish kept pressing, and following an injury to one of their players Mel volunteered to step in as hooker. This saw contested scrums and a bit more of an arm wrestle in the set piece, but Maddy was able to score Boro's final try, which she also converted. The game finished after Mellish scored a consolation try.
Final score Boro 34 Mellish 13.
