PRUFC Ladies 63 - St Neots Ladies 5
Todays match report is brought to you by Eau de Poulet by St Ives, "an aroma so strong, you can cut it with a knife". Due to this being a rearranged match, and no pitches available at Fortress Fengate the Ladies played St Neots in the leafy suburbs of St Ives, in the shadow of "The Chicken Farm".
With just the 15 players, Boros forward dominance allowed the backs to shine. Solid in their own set piece, and winning the oppositions. It was a shame that the Opta Stats machine was left back at Boro as we were unable to state how many meters were were made the ball in hand, my guess is loads. Tries aplenty, with Maddy scoring the first from a skirmish close to the visitors tryline. Jess P was next to "cross the whitewash", before Jess R (doing her finest Laura impression busting a few tackles and racing into space) got her first try. Cheryl was next, from a strong run which started on the Boro 10 metre line.
Half Time Peterborough Ladies 20 - 0 St Neots Ladies
Into the second half, and Boro made the most of a narrowing defence. Cody scored the first of her tries, storming to the line, with three hand offs on the way. Cody then scored another with only one defender willing to be fended off !! Maddy was successful with the conversion. Maddy then scored her second try, followed by Erica for a deserved try. Jess R scored a second, on hand to finish of a flowing move, converted by Maddy. Then St Neots managed to go upfield, and following a number of phases, including a penalty they scored in the corner. So Boro went back down the field, and as a result of dominant forward play Aine scored. Almost full time, but enough time left for Liv to collect a pass from Jess R to score, converted by Maddy.
Final Score Peterborough Ladies 63 - 5 St Neots Ladies
What did we learn ? There was a certain aroma at St Ives ! A bunch of the injured squad were there to make high pitched whooping noises. The league title is almost won, but an undefeated league season is still on the cards.
As I had to leave before the post match shenanigans I do not, at this time, know who got forward and back of the match, but 15 players put their hands up.
