Leicester Forest RFC

20 - 15

(HT 0-0)

Peterborough RUFC

Peterborough 1st XV travel to Leicester Forest Rufc this past Saturday in their first away game in Regional 2 Midlands East. Despite a valiant effort from Borough they would ultimately go down by 20-15.

With several unavailable players Borough were forced into a number of changes from the previous week, this included 5 in the starting backline alone. Debuts were given to 18 year old Harry Anderson at fly half who made a really good impression, Recee Kenton who scored 2 tries on the left wing, Luke Whitby at inside centre and Murphy Hill from the bench.

Forest were fast out of the blocks and scored their first converted try after only 5 minutes. Borough came alive and went onto dominate the rest of the half with Zac McClure and Wll Mannig catching the eye. 19 year old second row Manning got Boroughs first try by bargging his way over from close range, he then played a huge part in Boroughs second try by offloading the ball to winger Kenton to get his first try. Forest did score again to give them a 12-10 halftime lead.

Borough came out of the blocks at the beginning of the second half and Kenton had his second try to put Borough in front, 15-12. Borough were then guilty of trying to score from every where on the pitch and continually gave Forest chances to score. After drawing level with a penalty kick Forest then had the lead after scoring a try. In a repeat of last weeks game Borough had chances to score but just couldn't finish off through either lack of execution of poor decision making and for the second week in a row would have to settle for a losing bonus point, final score 20-15.

DOR Shane Manning's Comments " although we lost another game we really should of won I was very proud of how the lads pulled together considering the amount of changes from last week. Harry Anderson looked like he had been playing first team rugby for years such was his performance, he played on with a pulled quad and only came off after being made to. He has the kind of heart we need in the side. Also Recee played really well after answering an SOS call from me during the week. It doesn't get any easier for us now as we play Lutterworth at Fortress Fengate this Saturday. We will have to play the game of our lives to win. We have the talent to do it but its all on the players to be available so we can put our best team out and give ourselves a chance".
