Lincoln RFC

20 - 22

(HT 10-10)

Peterborough RUFC

Peterborough ladies headed up the A1 to play Lincoln.  We were expecting a competitive opposition and Lincoln were certainly that.  They came out of the blocks blazing and the arm wrestle began.

Lincoln were the first to score with an unconverted try.  Both teams were fairly evenly matched and were taking it in turns to score, Annie Fenton for Peterborough out on the wing, Lincoln and then Annie again just before half-time.

Half-time score: 10 - 10

Peterborough opened the second half with Annie scoring another try for the hattrick.  Conversion by Maddy Buckland.  Then it was Lincoln's turn out on the wing, unconverted.  Then back to Peterborough. A beautiful cross-field kick from Maddy Buckland and a great bounce saw Tyne Story-Taylor collect the ball for a run up the pitch to score.  Lincoln weren't done and managed to break through the defence line to score under the posts.  With the clock ticking down it was a nail biter, would Lincoln get the conversion for the draw or would Peterborough take the win.  The result could go either way.  Hearts were in mouths and weary bodies could do no more.  The ball went wide - phew.

Full-time score: 20 - 22

Both teams gaining a bonus point.
