It was a blustery day at Fortress Fengate but Peterborough Ladies were ready for a competitive game.
The game started with a fair amount of back and forth while both teams sized each other up. West Bridgford were to the first to score after 10 minutes with a converted try (0 - 7). Great defence from Boro kept the opposition out with two held up tries but the West Bridgford were finally able to get the ball over the line from teh strong running number 8 (0 - 12). Unfortunately after a team warning for the tackle height, Charlotte took one for the team and was off for a 10-minute rest. With only 14 players on the pitch, Boro did an excellent job of covering the pitch and it was only in the dying seconds of the yellow card that the opposition managed to get over the line on the wing for their third try (0 - 17). Back up to the full compliment of players and Boro were determined to get a score on teh board. Poppy was on hand to make the most of the space on the wing to score out wide from a quick penalty.
Half-time 5 - 17
With a change of ends and the wind at our backs, Boro were confident that we were still in the game. West Bridgford clearly thought differently and were running in the tries, scoring 5 tries in the second half. There were passages of excellent play and the score did not reflect the game but ultimately we were beaten by the better team on the day. Well done to the bees and we look forward to the return game.
Full-time 5 - 42
Forward of the match: Erica Barbosa (and dick of the day)
Back of the match, player's player and player picked by the opposition: Steff De Gracia
