Peterborough were the first fixture for the Police blues and twos, and they had turned up in good numbers. The friendly was a selection opportunity for the police, hence the 30 strong squad, and a chance for Peterborough to get newer players more game time. With two of our Peterborough ladies playing for the opposition, the team were in good spirits and ready for a run around under the flood lights.
Police were first to get points on the board, scored by one of the Peterborough players, Annie (0 - 7). Peterborough were attacking strongly but unfortunately a couple of slow to the breakdowns allowed for the turnovers and the oppostion wingers were incredible fast!!
Half time 0 - 19
With a full team swap for the police at half time we were ready for another run around. The teams were pretty evenly matched and we were taking it in turns to attack. Both sides showing great defence when put under pressure. The police had the fresher legs and were able to get through to score out on the wings. Despite the score, the quality of rugby was high and to keep it down to 2 tries in the second half was a great achievement against such a strong team.
Full time 0 - 33
