We were on the road again and knew that we'd be it was going to be a tough game. Peterborough were first to get scores on the board, with Cheryl Smith running up the wing to score out wide (0 - 5). This geed Coalville up and they were on the rampage. P'Boro were defending their try line but Coalville were successful with the try (5 - 5). Straight from the kickoff, P'Boro were able to regain possession and get the ball to the backs, putting fullback, Steff De Gracia, through a gap to run and score under the posts, converted by Maddy Buckland (5 - 12). Mixing it up, number 10, Nat Elliott, kicked down the pitch for winger, Abi Sole-Potter, to kick-and-chase the ball up the pitch. We were awarded a penalty for being tackled off the ball and scrum half, Maddy's, quick reaction saw her over the line for the points (5 - 17).
Half time 5 - 17
Kicking off the second half, Boro were able to regain the ball and see Penny Woods skim through the opposition to score under the posts, converted by Maddy (5 - 24). Coalville received a yellow card for a high tackle so with only 14 players on the field P'Boro were looking to take advantage...... however, Coalville were back attacking the try line. Sucking in our defence with the big forward runners they then shipped it wide and scored (10 - 24). Still looking to make the most of the yellow card advantage, the ball was out to the backs and Katlin Anders smashed it up the park to score, converted by Maddy (10 - 29). Back to 15 aside and the arm wrestle continued, attacking play switching back and forth. Coalville were again back in our 5 metre. Defending was intense, a few too many penalties, but P'Boro were holding the attack away from the try line. Coalville saw the opportunity and were able to pick-and-go from the back of the ruck, over the top, to score (15 - 31). The last 20 minutes were a scoreless blur, more arm wrestling! With a 5-metre penalty awarded and time running out, P'Boro were keen to score again. However in the blink of an eye we were soon to be on the back foot. Penalty was reversed and team warning for high tackles saw Bob (Ruby James) given a yellow card. Extra time was being played and Coalville were on the attack. P'Boro were finally able to get a turnover and secure the ball long enough for Emma Lane to kick the ball out!
