December saw Peterborough ladies losing the away game in a very muddy, bog-like, pitch so this fixture was all to play for. Peterborough were ready to prove their worth.
P'Boro kicked off and put the pressure on from the offset, and were awarded a penalty. Working their way up the pitch with great kicks from scrumhalf, Maddy Buckland, and flyhalf, Nat Elliott. Great attacking play but Bletchley were fiercely defending. Both teams were sizing each other up and play was back and forwards. A try saving tap-tackle from Steff De Gracia prevented a runaway Bletchley player heading for the try line. P'Boro were able to kick the ball back down the pitch for terrority. Twenty five minutes in and play from the lineout lead to Cheryl Smith scoring (5 - 0) and conversion by Maddy Buckland (7 - 0). With nerves settled, P'Boro were getting into their stride. Getting the ball out to the winger, Abigail Sole-Potter, who was able to run around the defence up the sideline to score (12 - 0), not converted.
Half time 12 - 0
With P'Boro receiving the ball from the kick-off, they were on the attack again. A penalty awarded 10 metres out from the try line saw a forward pod keep the defence tight and then a quick ball out to Laura Fulcher to score the try ( 17 - 0), unconverted. P'boro caught the ball from the restart and were attacking again, forwards making good ground and the backs having plenty of space to run in. As the ball was being passed out, the Bletchley centre was able to intercept the ball and score under the posts (17 - 7). Back up in the opposition 22m and full back Steff's try was unfortunatley disallowed as there was a foot in touch. Not to be put off, the ball was regathered from the opposition lineout and the backs set-up Steff to score on the other wing (22 - 7). Next up was centre, Penny Woods, who was able to step through and round teh opposition to score the final try of the match.
