On a lovely, almost summer-like day, Peterborough ladies were having a run out at Thorney RFC against Wymondham. The last meet was way back in the first week of September so there was no expectation that we would be playing the same team.
The opening 20 minutes saw the two teams sizing each other up. Although Peterborough were attacking they just couldn't get the ball over the line. Great defence and pressure from Wymondham. The first try came eventually and was scored by Penny Woods out on the wing (5 - 0). Peterborough were still struggling to play as a team and find their mojo. The last 10 minutes of the first half saw the playing structure pay off with Poppy (12 - 0), Kat (19 - 0) and Maddy (24 - 0) all scoring tries in quick succession.
Half-time 24 - 0
Second half saw more arm wrestling and although Peterborough were the more dominant team, the defence from Wymondham was immense. Peterborough scored two tries in the second half. A strong run from Kat, cleared the defence, and ran from the half way line to score. Converted by Maddy (31 - 0). Next try was a darting run from Erika to score under the posts (36 - 0).
Ful-time 36 - 0
