With flags at half-mast and a minute of applause we were playing for Martin, our caterer, our barman, our friend. He looked after us and we will miss him.
Peteborough were straight out of the blocks with a turnover from the kick-off and sending Steff over the line in the first minute. Steff was then able to set-up the next try with an offload to Annie before ONs smashed her into touch - it was one of of those blink and you missed it passes - for Annie to score under the posts, converted by Maddy. Maddy was next to score and get the conversion (17-0). ONs weren't making it easier though and an onslaught of strong runners lead to a try before half time (17-5). Still time for our whippy full back to get a try in before the half whistle.
Half time (22 - 5)
A number of replacements at half time meant that the Boro had fresh legs and they were ready to run. Wingers, Hannah and Abi, both made an impact with a try a piece. Maddy getting another try and conversion had Boro nicely in front (41-5). However, the icing on the cake, displaying the Boro of old, was the final play of the game. A Boro lineout won on the 22m, a catch and drive, out to a forward pod, a beautiful offload to Tyne in the centres to see her nicely under the posts for the last try of the game converted by Maddy.
Full time (48 - 5)
For you Martin.

And if it really is Eammon's last game as an East Midlands referee then we are honoured that it was with Peterborough Ladies. One of the best referees in the county.
Next week we are back at Fortress Fengate to play against Derby.
