Peterborough RUFC suffered another close loss away to Kettering RUFC by 27-25.
Kettering started the brighter of the two teams and went out to a quick 10-0 lead before Borough got into the game. A try from Will Manning, converted by Byron Van Uden bought Borough into the game. Van Uden then kicked a penalty to level the scores at 10 all. It was a physical game but Kettering were lucky to not have a player sent off on a couple of occasions for head on head contact but the referee deemed a penalty only, much to the amazement the Borough coaching group.
The second half started at a good pace with both sides trading scores. Firstly Michael Teague scored for Borough, with Van Uden adding a penalty giving the visitors a slim lead but Kettering managed to score again to retake the lead. With time running out Kettering scored again to all but seal the win. Borough did manage one last converted try to Ian Williams to bring the final score to 27-25 in favour of Kettering.
Director of Rugby Shane Manning's comments "we just can't get the rub of the green at the moment. More than a few of the referee's decision's I couldn't understand and they did influence the result which is very disappointing. But we have to dust ourselves off. We have only had two home games so far this season so it will be good to play at Fortress Fengate this week. Leicester Forest will be confident but we should be to, we have played some good rugby, we just need to put together for 80 mins".
