With lots to play for, the pressue was on, and Stamford certainly brought their all to Fortress Fengate.
The first 20 minutes was intense, both teams came out all guns blazing. Peterborough were first to find a space with some impressive footwork from Jaz Devereux to break through the defence and hot foot it to the try line. Conversion by Maddy Buckland (7-0). This fuelled Stamford and they were next to score out wide (7 - 5). As the first half was drawing to an end, the attacking play from Peterborough was rentlentless. Defence was good but scrum half, Maddy, was able to power through to score at the feet of Stamford and score the conversion.
Half time 14 - 5
Second half saw the forwards getting involved from a penalty move under to posts, a lovely draw and pass from Melanie Fulcher to see Laura Fulcher through the gap to score (19 - 5). Securing the bonus point for the game was Maddy with a dummy of her own to score the final try of the game (24 - 5).
Full time 24 - 5
A throughy great game to watch and played in the right spirit of rugby. Thank you to all the supporters who were definitely in full voice.
