Peterborough RUFC

17 - 5

(HT 0-0)

Boston RFC
What a grey day, as Boro Ladies welcomed Boston to Fortress Fengate, nestling in the foothills of Mt Pitchthree.
The match started with the now familiar both sides testing each other, as defences held out over attack (or offense as we have reached the playoffs in the NFL !). However, it was Boro to strike first (but not in the punchy way) as Stephanie was able to crash over to score the first points of the match, Penny was successful with the conversion. Boro were now hitting (not in a fighty way) their straps and making good ground into the Boston half, with the mix of youth and experience keeping their opponents on the back foot. Gemma was next to cross the try line following an explosive break to sprint away from the opposition. However, Boston did well to keep the score to 12 - 0 at the end of the first half.
Boro looked to keep the pressure on into the second half. Michelle was yellow carded for clotheslining a Boston player, leaving the excellent match official (Judge Dredd) no alternative but to send her to the naughty step for 10 minutes. It was around this time that the Boston support became very vocal, cheering every tackle like a world cup winning try. However, Boro refused to be compromised, and when Laura got the ball in open space (ie only three Boston players trying, and failing, to tackle her), she was off. As in the previous match, her team mates were more interested in watching how far she could get than to actually run in support !!! Stephanie sold an outrageous dummy to Boston, so big that they will be paying interest for the rest of the season. But, from some broken play Boston were able to pounce on a loose ball and scamper away to score a try and possibly get them back into a game that looked long gone. But Boro are not a pushover, and decided to play in the opposition half, and Kirsty scored the final try of the match to make the score more realistic.
