Peterborough Ladies continued their intermittent tour of Lincs with a trip up the A15 to take on Sleaford. The match kicked off in what seemed to be the first real day of winter (ie a bit chilly). The first few minutes saw both teams testing each other, before Boro scored when Maddie touched down from the back of a ruck. Boro were now finding their feet, and despite the valiant efforts of their hosts Hannah was the next to score. Boro were testing around the rucks and mauls with the forwards working hard. Gemma scored the final try of the first half with the scoreboard reflecting that Boro had been the dominant team.
The hosts came out fighting in the second half (not the throwing punches type of fighting), and following some pressure in the Boro 22, were able to crash over from a scrum to reduce the lead. Boro set about the task in hand and Penny got the try that her play throughout the game deserved, showing a clean pair of heels to the hosts. Boro's mix of youth and experience was now telling, as they set up camp in the home half.
Maddie scored a second, converted by Sophie, before Stephanie put the cherry on the icing on the cake by scoring with the last play of the match. Sophie getting the 'extras'.
Boro were good value for the win, and may have scored a few more, but if there were no mistakes Hugh and Ade would have nothing to do at training !!!
