Boro Ladies away at Lincoln - the Cathedral City derby (apologies, it is a bit cheesey, and other cheddars are available).
Boro Ladies second league game of the season saw them travel to Lincoln and lose a tight encounter 13-0. Whereas the first match allowed Boro to highlight their attack, this performance, against a strong and well drilled home side, saw the Boro ladies defence come to the fore. A tight first half, saw the only points on the stroke of half time as the hosts kicked a penalty (whatever next !!).
The second half saw Boro defending their own 22 for long periods, but without looking like conceding. This must have been on Lincoln's minds as well as they opted to kick another penalty halfway thought the half (seriously, what is going on !). Boro eventually conceded a try late on, but given the quality of the Lincoln backs there was no shame in that. The game finished shortly after following more resolute defence.
Not the result that the team and hundreds (?) of travelling supporters wanted, but a good game against the team likely to be challenging Boro for the league title.
Next up Boston away in two weeks time. Lets hope that the attack and defence come together to allow a party (Boston, party, tea, see what I did there !!).
Consumer advice, next time to go to Lincoln rugby club, bring a cup or mug and help yourself from the pots of coffee in the clubhouse.
PS - Note to self. Check the kick off time again before setting off, and while you are at it check the weather forecast for the frozen north !
