Lutterworth RFC

20 - 33

(HT 0-0)

Peterborough RUFC

Peterborough RUFC made a trip to Lutterworth looking for a much-needed win and came away 33-20 winners.

Lutterworth came out firing in the early exchanges and scored an early try. As has been the habit all season Boro responded. A great team try scored by Johnathan Hamilton after backs and forwards combined and was closely followed by a similar try to Stu Day, Willis Ingleby converting both for 14-5 lead to Boro. To Lutt's credit they sued their big ball runners to score two tries themselve, with one converted and a penatly they were leading 20-14. Boro's forwards then began to match Lutt's and Zac McClure scored another converted try to give Bor a 21- 20 half time lead.

The second half was a copy of the first with Lutts using their big fowards to try punch through Boros defence. Boro's defence held firm and did not concede anymore points. Boro's backs then got into the act and scored two tries with Willis Ingleby adding one to bring his personal points tally for the day to 13, the other to wing Tom Downer. Final score 33-20

Head Coach Shane Manning's commenhts: "We made very hard work of it at times but I'm pleased to get the win after having a week off. We had a few lads away but those who stepped up did a good job. Willis Ingleby did well in his first start at fly half along with Aram Jones who always seemed to be in the right place at the right time from full back. We are away to Towcester on Saturda, they have been playing really well lately so it will be another hard fought game. We will be missing a few regulards again so another change for others to take the opportunity and perform at first team level"
