Peterborough ladies are set to reach a historic moment this weekend as they take on Bedford Blues in the last league game of the 2024/2025 season. Peterborough are top of the table, with an unassailable lead, and take the promotion to Championship 2 next season. Bedford Blues will be travelling to Fortress Fengate in hope of stopping Peterborough from taking the clean sweep and winning 12 from 12 games. Championship 2 is two leagues below the Premiership women's rugby division, which is the top flight professional league in women's rugby. Championship 2 will be the highest level Peterborough have played at.
Women’s rugby is one of the world's fastest-growing team sports, with record-breaking participation and a surge in fan engagement. The success of the Red Roses and women's premiership has increased visibility and England hosting the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025 has brought the spotlight to the game from grassroots levels to professional leagues.
This season has seen new players and coaches join the squad and past players returning to the game, adding to the squad size and increasing the strength and depth of the Peterborough team. With promotion next
season, Peterborough will be running two teams to meet all playing abilities. We offer a family friendly environment both on and off the pitch.
